Our brain is constantly processing information, sensations, and emotions while we are awake as well as when we are sleeping. Different parts of our brain process different things.

Types of processing:

Left-right

Top-bottom

Bottom-top

When we feel calm, our left and right brains communicate effectively. The left side of the brain controls the right side of our body and vice versa. Our left brain thinks, uses language, and solves problems. Our right brain is intuitive, emotional, and involved in bodily functions. When we are overwhelmed, we can not think straight because our right brain takes over. When we are too analytical and cut off from emotions, we get stuck in the left brain.
